Bossier Parish Fifth Graders

Get Fit For Life

The weather could not have been better for Bossier Parish fifth graders to enjoy getting Fit for Life and focus on adopting healthy lifestyles.

Every fifth grade student in the district attended the much-anticipated event October 24 at Freedom Fields in Bossier City, where they got the chance to run, jump rope, kick soccer balls,  participate in hockey drills and simply enjoy being kids.

The purpose of Fit for Life, organized by Bossier Schools’ PE Curriculum Coordinator Michael Valentine, is to promote physical activity and emphasize the importance of healthy habits in hope our young people will carry these lessons with them throughout life.

Fit for Life ended with jaw-dropping acrobatics by the Plantation Park Elementary Tumblers, which drew rave reviews and applause. Then, after motivational words from Mudbugs Hockey Coach Jason “Soupy” Campbell and General Manager Scott Muscutt, they engaged in a quick soccer match-up against Superintendent Scott Smith and School Resource Officer Jackie Loveless.

It was a perfect day to get Fit for Life!

Kingston Cubs Get Up Close and Personal With Sharks

Kingston Elementary fourth graders got an exclusive sneak peek November 1 inside the new Shreveport Aquarium, being chosen as the first school group to visit the new venue on the riverfront.

Students touched sting rays, watched sharks swim overhead and saw beautiful tropical fish. Kingston S.T.E.A.M. Director Laurie Salvail said the visit will help teach and reinforce science concepts as students learn more about aquatic life and the importance of protecting the environment in her S.T.E.A.M. lab.

What a terrific day and fun way to learn hands-on about the mysteries of the sea!
