Photo of Shannon GaryHaughton Elementary fifth grade teacher Shannon Gary has her finger on the pulse when it comes to cultivating talent in the world of education, and the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) has taken notice.

Gary has been offered a position as a part-time Regional Talent Coach by the LDOE to help meet the need for credentialed mentors for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate teacher residents. This role puts Gary in the position to assist in shaping and molding tomorrow’s educators and build a pipeline of highly qualified teachers for Louisiana’s children.

Gary is no stranger to receiving accolades at the state level. This past fall, she was named the 2019 Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics Outstanding Middle School Math Teacher. Prior to that, she was the first in the area to receive her mentor teacher distinction from the LDOE.

It is easy to see that Gary is a rock star teacher and Bossier Schools is fortunate to have her on its team!
